Smithdown Aquarium is the typical fish owners' shop where you can purchase tropical fish and food, as well as fish tank equipment; these are all really standard prices, neither cheap nor expensive. They do sell a fair variety of small tropical fish which are quite common as for most aquariums.
The viewing area is rather tight being in a confined space but the staff are really helpful in providing you advice and tips whether you're a beginner or not. They greet customers when they enter the shop and often have regular customers there too, which is always a good sign.
If you're looking to exchange fishes here, you might just be able to strike up a good deal. Smithdown Aquarium is occasionally worth the effort, especially if you have a passion for pet fish.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dave L.Liverpool, Royaume-Uni355636507 juil. 2010
This would be a tremendously relaxing place to stay if it wasn't for the man on the counter peering suspiciously at you like you're about to grab one of the more tropical creatures and stuff it into your mouth.
With its gently bubbling aerators and dark aquatic atmosphere, you could spend a good few hours in here if it had a bar. Maybe the vendor will take kindly to my suggestions he ditches all the bags of gravel and little castles and starts mixing cocktails. I reckon he'd perk up if I tell him topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, but only in tropical fish stores. That's true by the way. Look it up.
Anyway, a shop of cool Neptunian depth, the place is great for stocking up on tropical fishies. Ask if you can have them with chips. They'll laugh uproariously as they stick your head into a tank, believe me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Helen T.Liverpool, Royaume-Uni213153283 juil. 2010
Where are the seals? The dolphins?!
Sorry, I'm still getting over missing the trip to The Blue Planet Aquarium when I was 10. With such high expectations, they are going to fall flat in here. And yet, I was still bemused at the sheer amount of fish they have crammed into this tiny shop!
Tanks line the walls like bricks, just laid one on top of the other and they have a section at the back where you can snake around through a labyrinth of glass and fish which really made my eyes go funny!
If you're in search for your new favourite pair of side-kick tropical fish whether you're going to call them Tom and Jerry, or Beavis and Butthead you'll find some cool different varieties here and all the kit to get you started if you're a beginner...it's all relatively cheap and the staff are really helpful. Go fish!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
