Finally, an honest estate agent who didn't laugh at my budget and try to coerce me in to spending more money on ugly apartments in Hackney.

The two men that work at Peach are so helpful and a complete breath of fresh air, after dealing with local agencies such as Foxtons up in Old Street. It is a small, local estate agent that knows the surrounding areas extremely well. I would thoroughly recommend using them, or at least speaking to them before renting a property in the area, as they gave us a fair bit of useful information.

HK Diner is the best place I know to get late night Chinese food in central london (it is amazingly open till 4am)

The food is generally good and cheap. The roasted pork belly and roast duck are very good, as are their noodle soups.

The diner serves up different types of bubble tea and shakes using crushed ice, fresh fruit and tapioca pearls at the bottom of the glass. I'm not a massive fan, but apparently this place does it pretty well.

I can't believe that this shop exists.

A whole shop dedicated to Sylvanian families, just off the main street between Highbury and Stoke Newington.

I'm so glad that these toys are still around- I was a huge fan when I was growing up (I had the school, hotel, farm and had a large collection of frogs, bears, raccoons and rabbits) and am pleased to see that they haven't tried to rebrand the toys to make them cool/modern.

The shop sells figures, accessories, buildings and props. It is amazing.

I just went to Jessops to help buy my little sister her first DSLR. She had looked up all the best/cheapest deals on the internet but wanted to see if she could get a better deal in store. The guy in the shop gave us so much information and was so incredibly helpful. Though he couldn't give her any further discount, he did agree to through in a camera bag and discount a memory card so she was thrilled.

The best cinema in London (if you are lucky enough and pick a day where a half decent film is playing)

The Prince Charles Cinema is an unspoilt cinema in the heart of the West end that shows a variety of films- both art house and popular blockbusters- at a quarter of the price of Leicester Square cinemas. The films shown are usually a few months behind the timetables of other cinemas- you can usually catch a film at The Prince Charles Cinema if it has stopped being shown on general release.

With its red, velvet curtains, double seated sofas, mezzanine level seating and bar, the cinema is a perfect place for a date, and a cheap date at that. Some of the showings cost as little as £1.50.
